Now available on consignment, a 1981 Vox AC-30 “Top Boost”.
This amplifier has a 40 watt output powering two, original, 12 inch Lane ceramic blue speakers with tremolo/vibrato onboard.
This era of Vox, produced by Rose-Morris, marks a slight modification in the product line, the traditional Celestion “Greenbacks” are now Lane ceramic speakers, and a few minor changes, such as a solid state rectifier instead of the traditional GZ35 tube.
Electronically this amp is quite original, aside from having newer speaker cables installed, most electrolytic caps replaced as per usual, and newer EL84’s.
Cosmetically, the condition is good, a few scuffs and rips in the Tolex, some corrosion on the screws, two noticeable holes in the grille cloth, and some slight fraying. There are 2x holes drilled in the back panel (see photos).
Overall this is a reliable, and powerful amp. Recently serviced by Earthling Designs, its perfect for gigging or recording.
