Now available, a 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 bass in its original Maple-glo finish.
This example of a 4001 bass is among the last with the checkerboard binding and the toaster neck pickup. It features a solid maple body with neck-through construction, rosewood fingerboard, a horse shoe high gain pickup in the bridge, and a 33.25" scale length.
The bass recently suffered a headstock break which didn't go all the way through, this has since been professionally repaired by Sydney luthier Piers Crocker and is rock solid. Otherwise the frets, nut, input jacks, switch, and tuners have been replaced. There is a decent amount of play wear, however its presents in good cosmetic shape overall. Both truss rods work perfectly, and the neck is straight with some relief towards the lower frets. The frets are in decent shape as well with typical wear in the first few positions.
Overall a great playing Rickenbacker 4001 at an approachable price, includes a modern Rickenbacker hardcase.
