Now available on consignment, a 1966 Rickenbacker Rose Morris 1998 in Fireglo.
This is a well-preserved example of a mid 60’s export model Rickenbacker 345, made for the English company Rose Morris and sold under their catalogue as a 1998 model.
Featuring typical appointments of that series of instruments: namely an f-hole instead of the usual cat’s eye soundhole, and plain dots on the fretboard instead of the shark fin slash inlays.
This Rickenbacker is finished in a nicely unfaded, dark Fireglo, showing off a very sedate Maple top and back, and retains most original components, though the bridge is a modern replacement, and the accent vibrato has been swapped with a newer “R” tailpiece with the original vibrato included.
Cosmetically, this guitar has obviously seen an active life, and though it has been played with care, there are numerous little dents and dings across the top and back, and plenty of wear on the neck. Despite this, there has been no neck reset, and though the neck angle is shallow, it still plays with a comfortable action. The pickups and wiring remain original, with the exception of the blend circuit being disconnected, and the middle pickup output being wired seperate to the bridge pickup, with the volume controlled by the smaller 5th knob. An understandable and not uncommon modification.
All in all this is a fine example of a very cool guitar, playing great and sounding even better, rich and deep acoustically, and sizzling, bright, versatile and full when plugged in.
Freshly set up & strung with 11-52 strings, includes the OHSC.
