Now available on consignment, an original 1928 National Style 1 Tri-cone Spanish neck in stunning condition.
Initially introduced in 1927 as a Hawaiian lap steel, a handful of Spanish neck Tri-cones were made in conjunction with the lap steels starting in 1928. Specifications of this model include a brass body with German Silver plating (nickel-silver), a V shaped mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, and three aluminium cones which remain original and fully functional.
Other features include the original open gear strip Kluson tuners, a 25" scale length, and a 1.85" nut width. The guitar presents in fantastic condition for a nearly 100 year old instrument, with the only change being a replaced saddle at some point. When the guitar came into the shop the strings were slightly offline with the fingerboard from the factory, the tailpiece has since been moved to the correct position by Sydney luthier Piers Crocker and it now plays beautifully.
The original frets show some minor wear, however they play surprisingly well for the age of the instrument. Cosmetically there are a few scuffs on the back of the body, and some wear on the back of the neck to note.
Overall a fantastic playing and sounding Tri-cone with a sound and projection from a bygone era.
Includes a hardcase.
