Martin D-28 1953

Now available on consignment, an original C. F. Martin & Co. D-28 from 1953.

This particular Martin D-28 made its way here from the US to Australia having been in a private collection for the last 15 years.

Features include a spruce top, Brazillian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard.

Work to the guitar includes:

• A professional neck set and refret with original ivory nut.
• Clear overspray over the original finish on the top.
• Grovers tuners installed at one point, original Kluson tuners are back on.
• Sleeved end pin, small repaired crack at the base of the pickguard.
• Professionally scalloping of the rear X braces, a tone bars to be closer in spec to a pre war D-28
• Replacement saddle that has been shaved down.

Otherwise the guitar is in decent condition for over 70 years old. There is plenty of fret life, and it plays with a medium action and sounds fantastic with a pick or fingerpicking.

A great example of an original 50s Martin D-28, includes a 60s Martin hardcase in good condition.
