Now available on consignment, a 1983 Gretsch Southern Belle.
This guitar is rather an oddity in the Gretsch line, being a product of the post-Baldwin era, assembled in Mexico, out of Baldwin-era parts. In everything but name it is a Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman, but given that Chet Atkins had since left Gretsch and taken the Country Gentleman moniker with him, Gretsch simply remade the guitars with a very period illustration of a antebellum southern lady.
There are no modifications to this particular example and it retains all its original components; micro switches, filtertron humbuckers (albeit in hilotron surrounds), and Grover Rotomatics.
The condition of this Gretsch is superb, it’s been very well preserved and minimally played, there is no binding rot present, and the neck is quite straight. There is a small amount of fret buzz around the 12th fret, but otherwise it plays cleanly and sweetly.
Freshly set up & strung with 10’s, includes its original case.
