Gibson Les Paul Custom 1970 Black

Now available on consignment, a well used original 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom in black.

This is an early pancake body construction guitar, having the headstock volute and no 'made in USA' stamp at this point. We purchased this guitar from the family of its original owner back in 2022, and it features an export Stamford case having been sold in Australia when new.

Playability wise, this guitar sounds fantastic. Having both of its original patent # decal pickups, a nice round C shape neck, and a fair weight at 4.5kg which feels balanced in hand.

Work to the guitar includes:

- A recent professional re-fret with medium jumbo frets, and shimmed original nut

- Light clear overspray over the finish on the back of the neck

- The bridge saddles, switch tip, and jackplate are replacements.

Otherwise this guitar retains most of its original parts, and has NO breaks or repairs to the neck. All 4x original pots date to 1970, and the original 'black beauty' capacitors remain. The original hardware all remains as well, and the guitar has its original waffle back Klusons, having never had other tuners installed.
