Now available, a 1957 Gibson L5CES in sunburst.
This late 50s example of an L5CES features a 17" wide body with a carved spruce top, solid flame maple back and sides, and a 2-piece maple neck with 5ply bound ebony fingerboard and the flowerpot headstock inlay.
The guitar retains its original sunburst finish, L5 tailpiece, Kluson Sealfast tuners, pickguard, and truss rod cover. The bridge base and ABR-1 are replaced, as are the electronics with a set of Slider 'PAF' style humbucking pickups, and a modern wiring harness with CTS 500k pots and PIO capacitors. The guitar has had a few sets of pickups installed throughout its life including humbuckers and alnico V staple pickups. The guitar has also been re-fretted at some point in its life.
Cosmetically this guitar has been very well played, with plenty of checking and wear to the finish especially on the back of the neck. Luckily its free from any major structural repairs other than the pickups.
An incredible sounding and playing example of a late 50s Gibson L5, includes a flight case.
