Now available on consignment, a 1964 Gibson 'Johnny Smith' model in sunburst.
This guitar has had significant work done since its birth. At some point a terrible accident occurred, resulting in more or less a complete restoration, lovingly done, by a very competent luthier.
Repairs to the guitar are as follows:
Otherwise the work to this guitar is all professionally done, and has resulted in an instrument which is delightful to play, richly toned, snappy, responsive and comfortable. Due to the extensive work, it’s hard to say what parts, if any, are original, however it has a period correct tailpiece, Kluson Seal-fast tuners, truss rod cover, and bridge. A correct “Johnny Smith” style floating pickguard & pickups have been installed, with a pair of ‘74 CTS mini potentiometers, and likely 70’s knobs.
Despite appearing as if it was once abused by Pete Townshend, this Gibson was clearly valued dearly by someone, and praise is due to the craftsman who bought it back from the Styx. It plays wonderfully, sounds delightful, looks great, and deserves a closer look.
Includes a hard case.
