Now available on consignment, a 1946 Gibson ES-300 in its original sunburst finish.

Introduced as a higher end electric archtop, this guitar features a 17" wide body with a single P90 pickup, and single volume and tone controls. The guitar has evidently had a busy life which is reflected in it’s condition. Modifications/repairs to the guitar include:

  • A strap pin installed at the neck heel.
  • Replacement 3ply pick-guard.
  • Other tuners have been installed at one point, period no-line Klusons are back
  • Replacement tailpiece.
  • Re-fretted with medium jumbo fret-wire.
  • Repaired crack on the side below the pickguard, and by the output jack. See pictures.
  • The back of the neck has been over-sprayed over the original finish long ago

Thankfully it has retained all the most important parts including the original dog ear P90, original bridge, barrel knobs and harness, pick-guard bracket, and truss rod cover.

This is a sweet and clear sounding guitar, responsive and warm, with plenty of punch in the basses and full, bright trebles. Strung with a set of 11-46 flatwounds, it plays very easily with a comfortable action, and is ready to play.

Includes a hiscox hardcase.
