Now available on consignment, an original circa 1948-49 Gibson ES125 with its single dogear p90 pickup and sunburst finish.
This particular example has been well played throughout the decades, and thus has some work including:
- A refret with medium jumbo frets, and a new nut.
- Tuners have been replaced to Gotohs.
- At some point a block was fitted under the bridge to reinforce the top, the guitar plays well with a relatively low action and room to adjust both ways.
- The back and sides have overspray over some repaired cracks on the sides, and a repaired centre seam on the back.
- The tailpiece is replaced, the pickguard is missing, and there is an added strap button to the neck heel.
Otherwise the original parts that remain include the original p90 pickup (non-adjustable pole pieces correct for this era), rosewood bridge, and the original knobs and pots. The model designation of ES125 is stamped in the upper f hole, however no FON is visible to determine the exact year of manufacture.
Its currently setup with 11s with a fairly low action and it plays great! Includes a hardcase.
