Now available, a 1962 Gibson Barney Kessel in its original cherry sunburst finish.
This is an early example of this signature model, featuring a 17" wide spruce top, a full depth laminated maple body, double Florentine cutaways, 2x humbucking pickups, tunomatic bridge, mahogany neck with Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and a 25.5" scale, split parallelogram inlays, and the crown headstock inlay.
The guitar retains its original sunburst finish and pick-guard, however all of the other parts have been replaced. The tailpiece, bridge base and ABR-1 are replaced, as are the electronics with a set of Slider 'PAF' style humbucking pickups, and a modern wiring harness with CTS 500k pots and PIO capacitors. A larger jackplate has been fitted at some point, as have schaller tuners as well.
Cosmetically this guitar has been very well played, with plenty of checking and wear to the finish.. At some point the back of the headstock was cleanly repaired and over-sprayed in black, the repair is solid and was performed long ago. The original frets are very worn, the guitar does play up and down the neck however a re-fret is recommended for improved playability.
A great way to get into a vintage golden era Gibson ES guitar!
Includes a quality gigbag.
