Now available on consignment, a late 1955 Fender 5E6 tweed Bassman amplifier.

This amplifier is a wonderful example of the classic mid 50s tweed Bassman, having two inputs - bright and normal, as well as all four original Jensen Alnico 5 P10R speakers dating to the 35th week of 1955.

Cosmetically there are plenty of signs of love and usage over it’s 70 year history, however aside from its worn corners the tweed is in remarkable condition, as is the grille cloth, and Fender badge. The control plate and badge are both spotless and rust-free. The handle has been broken, with evidence of a replacement at some stage, however the cabinet is otherwise in great shape.

Electronically this amp has had more or less all of its caps and resistors replaced, as is to be expected for an amp this old. Additionally, the original power transformer has been rewound to 240v for use in Australia, however it retains the original choke, and output transformer which are untouched. All tubes are replacements, as well as the 3 prong cord.

Plugged in this amplifier has plenty of headroom at low volume, and some fantastic breakup at higher volume sounding as full and rich as you’d expect.

All in all a fantastic, ready to play example of a vintage 50s Fender Bassman!
