Now available, an original 1961 Fender Stratocaster that has been refinished long ago in Dakota Red.
This particular example is from mid 1961, having all of the desirable pre-cbs features including clay dot inlays, and a brazillian slab rosewood fingerboard. This guitar has been in a private collection for some time, with the body refinish having been performed decades ago.
Other changes include:
- The back of the neck has had clear overspray probably at the time of the body refinish, this has mostly worn away from play.
- The headstock decal has been replaced, and other tuners were installed however period correct kluson deluxe tuners are back on (NO reaming of the post holes).
- A refret with medium jumbo frets which have plenty of life in them.
- The steel tremolo block is from the late 60s.
Otherwise the guitar retains most of its original parts including its original celluloid nitrate pickguard with no cracks, knobs and switch tip. The original tremolo plate, and saddles all remain as well (replaced height adjustment screws). The wiring harness appears untouched with the original stackpole pots dating to the 23rd week of '61, and the capacitor and original 3-way switch are present. The original black bottom pickups are all healthy and have their original windings as well.
A great playing and sounding 60s slab-board Fender Stratocaster! Includes its original brown tolex case in fair condition, original tremolo arm included.
