pickup cover mounting screws, 1x tugbar screw
Now available, an original early 1959 Fender Precision Bass in its original 3-tone sunburst finish with anodized gold pickguard.
This example came from the USA recently, showing a tonne of vibe and play wear from decades of use evident by the worn, smokey original finish.
It has all of the late 50s specifications including a 1-piece maple neck with walnut skunk stripe, dot inlays, and a neck date of 4/59. This matches the body date of 4/59, and the 2x original pots dating to the 25th week of '58, and the 16th week of '59.
Most of the original parts remain, except for an older refret with bigger frets, 1x tugbar screw, and the 4x screws for the original bridge covers. At one point 60s Fender tuners were installed, the original reverse tuners are now back on. A strap button in the cutaway, and on the upper bout have been carefully repaired/touched up. Otherwise the bass retains all of its original finish on both the body and neck.
Other things to note include a healthy original split-coil black bottom pickup, and a stunning original and worn in anodized aluminum pickguard.
This one has been recently setup by Sydney luthier Piers Crocker, and the frets play very well despite some wear.
A fantastic sounding pre-CBS Fender Precision Bass! Includes a reissue brown tolex case.
