Now available on consignment, a 1965 Fender Mustang in Olympic White.
This a straight up and down example of a mid ‘60s Fender Mustang in its original worn Olympic White finish. The guitar has certainly done a lot of miles, however it remains in pretty much original condition. There are plenty of dings and scratches as well as finish checking throughout, with the finish having aged to a wonderful buttercream.
Almost every single part on this guitar remains original, bar a recent professional re-fret and new nut. The wiring appears to be all untouched with both original CTS pots date to the 28th week of ‘65, and the grey bottom pickups signed by Abigail Ybarra dating to August. All of the original hardware remains, as does the 3ply pickguard, and knobs.
One other point of interest is the use of Padauk fingerboard, a feature occasionally seen on Fenders in 1965. The finish on the guitar remains original throughout including the headstock decal, however there is a small 2cm across bit of touch-up on the back of the body to cover belt buckle rash (pictured).
This Mustang sounds rich and lively, with a comfortable neck, and a light body, and there are a wealth of fun tones to be had out of this guitar.
Recently strung with 11-49 strings, it includes a 70s Fender case and no tremolo arm.
