Now available on consignment, an early 1966 Fender Esquire with a body only refinish in blonde.

This is a rare example of a mid 60s Fender Esquire, still retaining the earlier spaghetti logo which is commonly seen into 1966. The guitar retains its original neck finish and decal, having a nice medium chunky 'C' shaped neck profile.

Work to the guitar includes:

  • The body has been professionally refinished in nitrocellulose back to its original blonde finish by a well known USA based luthier.
  • The bridge pickup has had both leads replaced, the neck pickup is Mad Love TC-V.
  • The pickguard is a high quality replica, made at the same time as the body refinish.
  • The low E Kluson tuner is a period correct double line replacement.
  • The volume pot has been replaced with a modern unit.
  • Recent refret with slightly larger wire and a new nut.
  • There is a slight lateral twist to the neck, this doesnt affect playability and there is room to move on the truss rod.

Otherwise the guitar retains most of its original hardware minus some pickguard screws, 1x bridge plate screw, and the strap button screws. The tone pot dates to the 5th week of 1966, and the original switch and capacitor remain. Both pickups are well balanced and sound great paired together.

A great playing lightweight Fender Esquire, includes an older hardcase.
