New bridge, bridgeplate and saddle, professional refret, added strap button.

Now available on consignment, something very special indeed! An original pre-war C. F. Martin & Co. 000-28 Herringbone from 1938.

A rare find here in Australia, this Martin made its way here from the US to Australia in the last 15 years apparently coming from a well known Nashville store.

Being from 1938, this guitar has all of the desirable features including the Herringbone trim around an Adirondack spruce top, forward shifted scalloped X bracing, and brazillian rosewood back and sides.

Work to the guitar includes:

- A professional neck set and refret with a new nut was performed at some point.

- 2 larger pickguards were installed either side, it has a period tort guard in place and some clear overspray on both sides which is hard to see.

- Professionally replaced bridge and bridge plate, there is plenty of room left on the current saddle.

- Added strap button at heel, lower strap button is replaced.

- 2 repaired top cracks at the lower bout, one small crack by the pickguard thats been cleated.

- Repaired crack on the back by the lower bout, and some finish has reacted to a strap on the back of the body. 2x lower side cracks have been repaired.

Otherwise the guitar retains all of its original finish (minus the pickguard overspray), fingerboard and headstock overlay, and its original Grover tuners.

Most importantly, this guitar plays and sounds fantastic! The guitar has plenty of fret life, and plays with a low-medium action with room left on the saddle. A true holy grail from the golden era of Martin acoustic guitars!

Includes its original purple lined hardcase in average but solid condition.
