Now available on consignment, an absolutely stunning original 1954 Fender 'Blackguard' Telecaster in its original butterscotch blonde finish over ash body.
This example was imported some time ago to Australia and has been well kept since then. The guitar shows some play wear of course however remains in nearly original condition retaining most of its original parts with exception of 3x replaced screws, a medium jumbo refret, and a new nut. This example has some typical '54 features including all phillips head screws, however still has the earlier brass saddles which transitioned to steel during this year.
Both the body (TG/9/54) and neck (9/54) have their original finish with no touchup or overspray. It appears the guitar had some early factory work performed before it left Fullerton, CA. This is evidenced by the serial # being stamped under the bridge plate and on the base of the neck heel. Otherwise the finish matches the typical specifications of this era, remaining in fairly good shape as well. There is some play wear around the edges of the body, and an indentation near the input jack to note.
The original black phenolic single ply pickguard is in good overall shape, however there is a small notch by the neck joint for access to the truss rod.
The original pickups sound fantastic with healthy outputs making this a standout example tonally. The wiring harness appears untouched as well, still having its original dark circuit in place.
Overall a fantastic original blackguard telecaster thats the perfect mix of utility and originality. Includes its original centre pocket tweed case, strap, cable and bridge cover.
