Now available, a 1966 Fender Precision Bass in its original Candy Apple Red Metallic finish.
This particular example has been played, however remains in totally original condition including its original factory large frets, and transition decal. Other specifications include a 1-piece maple neck with a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard (sometimes seen in 1966), and pearl dot inlays.
The original Candy Apple Red finish is mostly untouched, however there is some older touchup around the edges of the body (see pictures). Otherwise the original finish is untouched on both the body and neck.
All of the original hardware remains including the 3ply pickguard, as does the original split-coil pickup, and wiring harness with the CTS pots dating to the 9th week of 1966. There is no neck date on this example which did happen occasionally from the factory, the original finish is untouched on the neck.
The bass plays with a fairly low action, and the original frets play well despite some wear of course.
A fantastic sounding early CBS Fender Precision Bass! Includes its original black tolex case and covers.
